defining freethinking James Poole mixes

movement 1: James Poole, September 2010

A few people have been asking for mixes, so here we go…

A lot of this music you’ll know. Some of it you won’t. Our goal is simple. Good music rules. It’s not just about playing music which you won’t have heard before – it’s about bringing it all together, and hopefully giving you a new angle on some tunes you’re familiar with while also opening the door to new music for you. Our freethinking nyc night is all about sharing good music, regardless of genre conventions. For this first mix, I just wanted to give as authentic a taste as possible. This is pretty much a set which I played a couple of weeks back at Kush, and the crowd loved it. This is absolutely live, so my hope is to really give a flavour of the night.

Remember, if you like something here, go out and buy it. I’ve given you a track list to make it easier…

What an interesting diverse choice of music on your mix. Chuffed home played a part in your choice. Stoke on Trent’s loss is New York’s gain. Keep playing Motown to Nat King Cole & Tony Bennett. Look forward to seeing you soon. Mum (Must put Frog Child on my iPod)
